Peter Dougherty, Co-founder, President and CEO
Peter Dougherty is President and CEO at Certeon. Before co-founding Certeon, Mr. Dougherty led the product development and marketing of streaming solutions at EMC, following that company's acquisition of Digital Bitcasting. Mr. Dougherty was also the CEO and co-founder of Bitcasting, a pioneering software compression company which expanded into streaming media products. He built his entrepreneurial success on a prior record of achievement and leadership in broadcast management. Mr. Dougherty is also Chairman of the Cranwell Fund which is building public-private funded schools for at risk high school students in the Rhode Island area. www.cranwellfund.org
Jeffrey Black, Co-founder, Chief Scientist
Jeff Black has over 20 years experience in senior engineering and executive positions in the networking and telecommunications industries. Prior to founding Certeon, Mr. Black co-founded Omnia Communications which developed optical networking equipment for telecommunications carriers. In 1999, Omnia was acquired by Ciena Corporation where Mr. Black served as VP, Engineering and Network Planning. Prior to founding Omnia, Black was Engineering Vice President at Telco Systems and held senior engineering positions at Cryptall Communications, US Windpower, and Rockwell International. During his career, Mr. Black has led the development of innovative products in the areas of telemetry systems, encryption, data compression, optical networking, and the Internet. He holds three patents and has a BS degree from the University of Maryland and an MSCS degree from the University of Colorado.
Mr. Black also serves as the chairman of the Brimmer & May School, a co-educational, college preparatory day school for students in grades pre-K through twelve, located in Chestnut Hill, MA. www.brimmerandmay.org
Shawn Amershek, Co-founder and Vice President, Operations
Shawn Amershek is a co-founder and the vice president of operations at Certeon Inc. Mr. Amershek is an experienced department head/director with over 10 years in Enterprise Networking, Software Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, and Customer Support. Prior to coming to Certeon, Mr. Amershek founded the Technical Support Center for Omnia Communications (acquired by Ciena Corp.). He has also held senior management positions at Nortel, Bay Networks, and Bell Atlantic.
Mr. Amershek has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Donato Buccella
Chief Technology Officer
Donato Buccella brings more than 20 years of software industry experience having successfully brought to market several commercial products in multiple verticals including security, infrastructure management and electronic data capture. Prior to coming to Certeon, Mr. Buccella was a founder and Chief Architect at Verdasys. Mr. Buccella has also lead product teams at Symantec Corporation and Phase Forward in addition to consulting to several Fortune 500 companies. He holds a number of patents and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Boston University.
Jeff Galin, Vice President, Worldwide Sales
Jeff Galin brings to Certeon over 20 years of highly successful software experience, having served in both domestic and international executive sales management positions. His experience includes leading early stage organizations to their market dominance, resulting in IPO or acquisition. Mr. Galin has specialized in creating sales organizations that leverage world-class channel/partner alliances, and he has distinguished his career by consistently exceeding revenue objectives while serving customer requirements. Earlier in his career he has held senior positions at; Mazu Networks, Precise Software (acquired by Veritas), Mercury Interactive (acquired by HP), and ProgramArt (acquired by Compuware). In his tenure he has formed strategic partnerships with high-profile organizations such as: IBM Global Services, Symantec, EMC, Computer Associates, and Cap Gemeni Ernst & Young. Mr. Galin holds a B.A. in Financial and Legal Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Jack Rieden, Vice President, Engineering and Product Management
With over 20 years experience in product development roles and executive positions ranging from commercial operating systems to distributed security. Mr. Rieden held senior engineering roles at Open Software Foundation, Hewlett Packard, and IBM, delivering operating system products. While at Open Market, nCipher, Cryptometrics, and Verdasys, Mr. Rieden lead and held senior executive roles in product development and professional services, in which he delivered security related products to market. He received a B.S. in Microbiology and Computer Science from Texas A&M University.
Gareth Taube, Vice President, Worldwide Marketing
Gareth Taube is responsible for the company's marketing strategy and execution. Mr. Taube has 20 years of successful high technology marketing and management experience having been the CMO for five successful early stage companies, two of which became public companies. He has created successful brands for companies in the software tools, applications, networks and services markets, and has a track record of creating sustainable revenue growth through strong marketing execution. Prior to joining Certeon, Mr. Taube ran Market Recognition; a marketing consulting firm specializing in developing market strategies for VC funded early stage companies. Previously, he was an SVP at Emulex, where he ran the IP Storage Networking Group. He was also SVP of sales and marketing at Giganet, an early stage networking company from its founding until its acquisition by Emulex. Mr. Taube was also CMO and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Seque Software, Peritus Software Services, and Praxis International. Prior to that Mr. Taube was a Global Corporate Sales Manager at Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Taube holds BS and MS degrees from the City University of New York.
