aCelera Performance eBook: Certeon’s aCelera Platform - Global Application Performance
Applications can run in a datacenter in a cloud or on the moon - users don't care - as long as the applications perform!Check out Certeon's aCelera, It’s amazing! You won’t be disappointed.
Certeon’s aCelera Platform - Optimize Global SharePoint Performance by Joel Oleson
One of the biggest challenges to global deployments of SharePoint is dealing with poor Wide Area Network (WAN) performance. Essentially, global adoption can be a huge hurdle due to poor performance of page loads, file transfers, and just time wasted waiting for the system to respond. Check out Certeon's aCelera, It’s amazing! You won’t be disappointed.”
Global SharePoint and the Emerging Distributed Enterprise: Turning the Potential for Chaos into the Means for Success, by Bill Ives
While SharePoint is fast achieving dominance, one major challenge stands in the way of it realizing its full potential: SharePoint’s centralized architecture often results in long file and content transfer times for distributed organizations that depend on Wide Area Networks (WANs). This discussion covers these performance concerns, their origins and implications, and offers a potential path for success.
The aCelera Suite of Virtual Appliances for WAN Optimization.
The advantages of consolidating servers through virtualization technologies are well known. More efficient use of hardware, greater deployment flexibility, and better management are just some of the benefits. These benefits stem largely from the economies of scale derived from leveraging common hardware infrastructure within an enterprises centralized data centers. Increasingly, moving servers out of branch offices and into virtualized data centers is further leveraging these economies.
One of the most significant trends in the WAN optimization market is the development of new products and new product features that are designed to enable IT organizations to leverage public and hybrid clouds as extensions of their enterprise data centers.
Some recent and anticipated developments include:
Cloud Optimized WOCs: These are purpose-built virtual WOC appliances for deployment in public cloud environments. Cloud Optimized features include compatibility with cloud virtualization environments, SSL encryption and acceleration, and automated migration or reconfiguration of virtual WOCs in conjunction with VM provisioning or migration. As previously mentioned, WOCs can either be deployed in a symmetric fashion, with a WOC on each end of the WAN link; or in an asymmetric fashion, with a WOC deployed just in a branch office.
While it is possible to virtualize almost any component of IT, this report focuses on three forms of virtualization: server virtualization, desktop virtualization and virtualized appliances, including Certeon’s aCelera virtual appliance solutions..
Certeon's aCelera Virtual Appliance for Application Acceleration software enables more efficient data replication and backup over the WAN. aCelera helps enterprises to quickly and efficiently recover their most valuable asset, their company data, in record time while reducing business continuity costs. Certeon understands the importance of reducing backup window times and network bandwidth consumption. With aCelera software, distributed enterprises can deploy industry-leading data protection solutions and deliver cost-efficient real-time performance to critical remote backup sites.
By Deni Connor, principal analyst, Storage Strategies NOW
Implementing data protection applications and disaster recovery across a wide-area network (WAN) can be fraught with obstacles such as latency, low bandwidth, network contention, out of order packets and packet loss that interfere with an organization's efforts to meet recovery time and recovery point objectives (RTO/RPO). This paper discusses how deploying WAN acceleration virtual appliances, that are specifically designed for data protection operations, is a better way to protect your data.
Certeon compared the cost of aCelera WAN optimization and application acceleration software configured on an industry-standard server against like Riverbed Steelhead configurations based on the number of connections achieved and found a savings of more than 60% when deploying aCelera at the data center and in remote branch offices. aCelera software gives distributed enterprises 50% more connections for more than 60% less than the cost of a Riverbed Steelhead appliance.
The Tolly Group WAN optimization performance and scalability test results for Certeon's aCelera virtual appliance for application acceleration. The Tolly Group test results show that the aCelera virtual appliance can be implemented as a high performance application acceleration solution that can be scaled as needed, rather than a purpose built hardware appliance.
Featured in this report are the performance results gained from using aCelera Sync along with the following SAN backup and replication applications to reduce response time and network bandwidth requirements: CommVault®, Dell® EqualLogic®, Double-Take® and Network Appliance®. The end result of using aCelera Sync in these environments is a higher-performing, lower-cost business continuity environment.
