IBM Rational ClearCase

IBM® Rational ClearCase and Rational Team Concert (CCRC) are industry-leading software configuration management (SCM) solutions that provides version control, workspace management, parallel development support and build audits for large team software development projects. Developers who use IBM Rational software tend to work in geographically dispersed locations, remotely either in small branch offices, or from home. Without WAN acceleration technologies developers experience slow application response times when performing operations that modify and transfer files across the WAN. Slow performance results in lost productivity and higher development costs for these very expensive projects.

Certeon’s Application Acceleration Blueprints for CCRC significantly reduce application response times, enabling a more reliable, real-time, and high-performance remote development capability. Critical CCRC transactions such as load and update view, and Team Concert Load and Share transactions can take multiple minutes to complete with typical WAN latencies. With Certeon aCelera, ClearCase CCRC and RTC users can reduce the response time of these transactions down to only a few seconds. The reduction in network bandwidth that accompanies aCelera deployment coupled with IBM Rational ClearCase application responsiveness cuts down on time-consuming and costly time-outs while waiting for large documents to synchronize. In performance tests Certeon has been able to demonstrate as much as a 93% improvement in CCRC response time over the WAN. Illustrated below are the results of the CCRC HTTPS Check-in, Check-out and Add to Source response time testing for various size Doc files. The results with Certeon’s aCelera on both ends of a WAN connection showed a reductions in response time for different operations with reductions as great as an operation of 220 seconds reduced to just 5 seconds.
